Grand Palais Immersif will soon be hosting the exhibition "Ukraine: A Year of Resilience, a Culture of Resistance"

First unveiled at the Toronto Ukrainian Festival in September 2022, this series of immersive exhibits will premiere in Paris, France at the Grand Palais Immersif, to commemorate the one-year anniversary of Russia’s war in Ukraine.

For almost a year now the full-scale invasion of Ukraine by the Russian Federation continues. Russian occupants continue to target Ukrainian cities, killing civilians, stealing natural resources and cultural heritage. On February 24th, 2022 amidst the bombardments and firefights, workers at the National Museum of Taras Shevchenko crated away valuable works by Taras Shevchenko in the exact same containers used to shield them from invading Nazi forces in 1941, to hide the valuable national artwork from invading Russian military forces as gunfire erupted just down the street. On February 26th, 2022 a Russian rocket hit a small municipal museum in Ivankiv endangering a rare collection of Maria Prymachenko’s works. Despite the temporary Russian occupation of Ivankiv, brave museum staff managed to save these works.

In a series of immersive exhibitions, audiences will have an opportunity to experience Ukrainian art through the paintings of Taras Shevchenko and Maria Prymachenko.

Taras Shevchenko is a 19th century Ukrainian artist, poet, philosopher and public figure who is quoted, and celebrated all over Ukraine and the world. An entirely Ukrainian creative team behind the exhibit series was able to work with specialists at the National Museum of Taras Shevchenko in Kyiv to obtain access to their collection of paintings, resulting in a one-of-a-kind sensory experience that President Zelensky himself visited before the war began

20th century folk painter Maria Prymachenko is a recognized Ukrainian artist whose works even attracted the attention of Pablo Picasso. While living in two different centuries, both Taras Shevchenko and Maria Prymachenko remain national treasures in Ukraine, whose works represent the Ukrainian soul, values, and Ukrainian identity.

Additionally, the series will feature a segment called Ukraine: Land of the Brave, which through the full power of immersion plunges the audience into the daily reality of the war in Ukraine, and its effect on Ukrainian citizens. Visitors will to experience videos, photos, and interviews with everyday Ukrainians who are defending their homeland. The exhibit features footage captured by journalists and photographers such as Sergey Loiko and Dmytro Kozatsky at the front lines, as well as materials from leading Ukrainian news channels.

The exhibit series was created in a collaboration between Kostyuk Productions, the First Theatrical Charitable Foundation and the National Museum of Taras Shevchenko. Produced by Valeriy Kostyuk and Natalya Deliyeva, with creative direction by RockNLight Multimedia's Tais Poda, and musical curation by Timur Polyanskiy. With the support of the Ministry of Culture and Information Policy of Ukraine, the Ukrainian Canadian Art Foundation and the International Renaissance Foundation.

Taras Chevtchenko est un artiste, poète, philosophe et personnage public Ukrainien du XIXe siècle, célébré en Ukraine et dans le monde entier. Une équipe créative entièrement ukrainienne est à l’origine de la série d'expositions immersives. Elle a travaillé avec les spécialistes du Musée national de Taras Chevtchenko à Kyiv pour obtenir l'accès aux collections de peintures. Le résultat est une expérience sensorielle unique que le président Zelensky a lui-même expérimentée avant le début de la guerre.

La peintre folklorique du vingtième siècle Mariia Prymatchenko est une artiste ukrainienne reconnue dont les œuvres ont même attiré l'attention de Pablo Picasso. Bien que vivant à deux siècles différents, Taras Chevtchenko et Mariia Prymatchenko sont des trésors nationaux, dont les œuvres représentent l'âme, les valeurs et l'identité ukrainiennes.

L’exposition comporte également une troisième séquence intitulée Ukraine: La terre des courageux. Grâce à la puissance de l'immersion, celle-ci plonge le public dans la réalité quotidienne de la guerre en Ukraine et ses effets sur les citoyens Ukrainiens. Les visiteurs pourront découvrir des vidéos, des photos et des interviews d'Ukrainiens ordinaires qui défendent leur patrie. Cette œuvre rassemble des images prises par des journalistes et des photographes en premières lignes tels que Sergey Loiko et Dmytro Kozatsky, ainsi que des documents provenant des principales chaînes d'informations ukrainiennes.

La série d'expositions a été créée en collaboration par Kostyuk Productions, First Theatrical Charitable Foundation et le Musée national de Taras Chevtchenko. Produit par Valeriy Kostyuk et Natalya Deliyeva, sous la direction créative de Tais Poda de RockNLight Multimedia et la curation musicale de Timur Polyanskiy.
