Walking through Eternel Mucha exhibition in Grand Palais Immersif

May 2, 2023

We visited Eternal Mucha exhibition for you! From one room to another, the immersion is absolutely total. Here is the story of what awaits you and your senses at Grand Palais Immersif (Paris, 12th).

Magnificent visuals

Curled up on giant cushions and surrounded by a panoramic screen, immerse yourself in the life and career of the Prague-born artist, over three acts. You will hear Mucha's music and voice alternating with the parade of grandiose visuals. Floral arabesques are drawn and coloured before your eyes, revealing the artist's famous posters. The Icons are followed by works from the 1900s, then The Utopias, which for the first time in an exhibition include the 20 canvases of The Slav Epic: an epic and committed work, the true apotheosis of Mucha's style.

Focus on The Slav Epic

A new space opens up where touch screens and a chronological theme face each other, allowing us to discover Mucha's decidedly romantic life; on the touch screens, we can zoom in on the details of the advertising posters and the 20 paintings of The Slav Epic. At the end of the corridor, Mucha's warm voice captures the attention; his speech, recorded for posterity, sheds light on his artistic project which is also social: art must guide the action of the people!

In the shade of the "flower women"

The exhibition then moves on to Mucha's women; his muses bloom and parade on the walls, highlighting Mucha's unique style: you are invited to sit in the shadow of these young women in bloom! A moment of eternity...

In the artist's studio

Next door, the atmosphere of the artist's studio is recreated to surprise your senses. In this immersive space, you can hear the sound of pencils, pastels and charcoal rubbing against the paper, smell the waxed furniture, incense and turpentine...

Mucha's legacy

The end of the exhibition is devoted to the heirs of the Mucha style. A giant screen also shows the graphic decors of the Arcane series, strongly inspired by the artist's artistic universe. Mucha has become a myth, there is no doubt about it!

A break in the bookshop-boutique

After smelling the perfumes created especially for the exhibition and walking through the forest of Mucha's hanging lithographs, the shop welcomes you with unusual objects related to the exhibition: Art Nouveau flower seeds, exhibition catalogue, notebooks, mirrors, lithographs... enough to bring the Mucha magic at home!

Exhibition co-produced by Grand Palais Immersif (a subsidiary of the Rmn - Grand Palais) and the Mucha Foundation, Prague.
