In 2021, the Rmn Grand Palais lent its expertise and experience to various cultural stakeholders and regional and local authorities.
REGIONAL PROJECTS As part of the summer of culture, and with the support of the Ministry of Culture, "Musée au camping", operated by the Rmn Grand Palais in collaboration with the Fédération nationale de l'hébergement de plein air, was successfully tested at 12 campsites in 11 regions, involving nearly 1,000 people. By offering cultural activities on site (with the provision of Rmn Grand Palais educational packages) and in the nearest museums (simple or guided tours, workshops for children and families, etc.) that were accessible free of charge, this operation aimed to enhance the summer for visiting holidaymakers and showcase the museums. This event will be repeated in 2022 on a larger scale. Several activities were also initiated or carried out to support the development of cultural projects. As part of the development project for the Quartier Castermant in Chelles (Seine-et- Marne), the Rmn Grand Palais carried out a study on the approach of the planned urban transport museum, at the request of the Amtuir (Association of the museum of urban, interurban and rural transport). A multi-year agreement was signed with the municipality of Vence, establishing several projects based on the special relationship that the town forged with major 20th century artists. In particular, the project will allow for a "Matisse circuit" to be developed and the Villa Le rêve, where the artist produced some of his most important works, to be renovated.
PURSUING THE "FRENCH CAPITAL OF CULTURE" NATIONAL LABEL Working to support regions, in close partnership with and at the request of the Ministry of Culture, the Rmn Grand Palais continued to implement and oversee the French Capital of Culture national label. After supporting the applicant cities during the selection phase and organising the work of the jury and its hearings, the establishment supported the first winning city, Villeurbanne, which ran the Place aux jeunes project and put on over 700 events during the year, while developing an innovative approach in terms of artistic and cultural education. The Rmn Grand Palais supported the city in its search for partnerships and acted as an interface with the Ministry of Culture. Alongside this work, it began preparations for a second edition of the label.
ABROAD Finally, the institution's expertise was sought in support of Senegalese cultural institutions. A cooperation partnership was signed with the French Embassy and the Institut français, through which the IFAN (Institut Fondamental d'Afrique Noire), which holds important works of art and crafts from Sub-Saharan Africa, will receive significant technological support and expertise from the photo agency's teams. The aim of this operation is to develop IFAN's photographic capacities so that it can eventually produce a photographic inventory of its collections. The engagement teams will provide operational support to the MCN (Musée des Civilisations Noires) in Dakar for the "engagement with school audiences" element of the Picasso L'Africain exhibition, which will open in April 2022.
