CHRONICLES OF A RENOVATION PROJECT MAYLIS DE KERANGAL Maylis de Kerangal is the author of some fifteen works of fiction, tales and novellas, most of them published by Verticales. They include Corniche Kennedy in 2008, a novel about vertigo and adolescence, Naissance d un pont (Birth of a Bridge) in 2010 (Prix Médicis and Prix Franz Hessel), a fictional work about a large construction site in an imaginary city, and Réparer les vivants (Mend the Living) in 2014, a novel about a heart transplant (and the winner of a dozen literary prizes including the RTL-LIRE Grand Prix du Livre and the Prix du Roman Étudiant France Culture - Télérama). In order to take account of the architectural and technical process of bringing the Grand Palais back to life, as well as the incredibly human story involved, the Rmn Grand Palais and François Chatillon chose to invite Maylis de Kerangal to chronicle this extraordinary project. Every three months, she visited the site as a kind of privileged witness, following progress and producing a report.
