COMMITTING TO A SUSTAINABLE APPROACH IN THE VERY WAY THE INSTITUTION OPERATES
A responsible purchasing policy Over half of the contracts awarded include CSR clauses and/or criteria. Environmental clauses are systematically integrated into contracts for the transport of works of art, scenography, printing and all contracts for the manufacture of exclusive products. In addition, the works contracts awarded as part of the New Grand Palais project all incorporate an environmental component. 20% of the contracts awarded include social clauses or criteria, representing a significant increase on the establishment s result of just 1.2% in the previous year. To contribute to the establishment's social performance, an agreement was signed in 2021 with the Association Ensemble Paris Emploi Compétences (EPEC), which assists the establishment in drafting social clauses in its contracts, analysing and scoring the social commitment proposal, and monitoring the commitments made by the companies in situ. The contracts identified at this stage are the works contracts relating to the project of the Grand Palais, with a target of 100,000 social inclusion hours.
A policy to promote responsible procurement was initiated in 2020 and pursued in 2021 to support the implementation of the CSR policy more widely. This focuses on four main components:
− a social component, promoting social inclusion and the fight against discrimination with more stringent social clauses in contracts;
− an environmental component; − a SMB component to facilitate access to contracts for microbusinesses/SMBs;
− an innovation component.
Each procurement project identified was studied from a perspective of these four components in order to raise the awareness of prescribers, anchor CSR in people's minds and make these objectives more familiar.
Daily actions for sustainable operations As part of a call for urban agriculture projects organised by the City of Paris (Les Parisculteurs), aquaponic kitchen gardens were installed on the roof of the Rmn Grand Palais head office in Paris, in the 12th arrondissement. After the studies were finalised in 2020 and the hydraulic system and ponds were installed in early 2021, production began in the spring, providing the employees of the Rmn Grand Palais with herbs, vegetables, fruit and flowers. Several fresh produce boxes were available each week, offering between 2 and 5 kilos of plants, fruit and vegetables. In total, more than 400 kilos of fruit and vegetables were sold to employees. Aquaponics allows for soil-free cultivation using a neutral and inert substrate: the plants, installed in towers, are irrigated by a solution enriched with waste from fish (rainbow trout, European perch, etc.). The fish are located in large tanks near the plants. These towers mean that over 90% of water can be saved compared to conventional market gardening. In late 2021, the Rmn Grand Palais implemented waste collection on a voluntary basis for its head office by providing sorting containers for non-hazardous waste from employees. Containers were installed on each floor to supplement the existing system; sorting at source makes it easier to recycle and transform
