Co-produced with the Palais des Beaux-Arts de Lille, the exhibition Experience Goya took an eco-friendly approach, following strict sustainable development rules, including a limited number of loaned works, local loans, more environmentally-friendly materials, the reuse and recycling of waste, and the modularity and reconversion of the scenography. The scenography was designed so that 70% of elements could be reused for the subsequent exhibition at the Palais des Beaux-Arts de Lille. In the atrium, a 170 m2 immersive space featured 31 transformable curved panels that could be assembled, dismantled and reused. This same principle was used for part of the carpentry ensembles in the exhibition room, with 21 picture rails, as well as a central panel and part of the double-door exit, also reusable.
Cultural products As part of the establishment s CSR policy, the Sales and Marketing Department works to limit protective plastic packaging. As such, when one of the textile contracts was renewed, the presentation of T-shirts was revised in order to no longer include individual plastic packaging.
In 2021, the Casting and Chalcography Studios invested in the hire of an environmentally- friendly paper packing machine and the purchase of a shredder in order to recycle the paper usually thrown away in the office bins. These joint actions meant that polystyrene packing peanuts, used in large quantities by the studios, no longer needed to be purchased.
A new mobile bookshop at the Centre Pompidou Located on the 6th floor of the Centre Pompidou, the exhibition bookshop got a makeover when the Rmn Grand Palais took over the concession on 1 January 2021. In order to completely redesign the shop, the establishment joined forces with design firm Studio 5.5 to imbue the space with the museum s identity. In a continuation of the Centre Pompidou s environmental commitments and those of the Rmn Grand Palais, the project was designed in an environmentally-conscious way:
− the modular architecture of the elements helped to optimise the manufacturing process and reduce the impact of transport;
− the components were designed using dimensions that allow the use of raw material panels in their entirety, eliminating offcuts;
− all the elements were designed separately: with a view to future renovation work at the Centre Pompidou, they will be easy to move and reinstall in exactly the same way, without any additional resources or work.
